London’s art scene is ascending after the COVID-19 pandemic, with many young people keen to dive into their feelings through any means of art.
One of them is Eva Brighty – who has found her peace and ability to cope with the hardships this city brings in her music creations. Eva is an up-and-coming indie artist whose music originates from heart-breaking revelations and situations. She describes her style as a ‘Heart-Break Lethargy’ that can be listened to in comfortable or relaxing places.
“I always refer to myself and my music as cosy, but it does have this element of rage. My music is mostly sparked from personal experience. However, there are times where I notice things happening around me or different people experiences that also spark my way of thinking,”
Eva’s inspiration lies in artists such as Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine. Still a traveller in the industry, she says that she tries to connect with people while building a supportive community, where everyone can express themselves in creative ways. This was one of the motives that pushed her into becoming a musician.
“Angry To Get Older is the track I am most proud of. I think it is the perfect reflection of what I am going through at this point of my life. As well as this, it is a track that presents who I am as an artist,” Eva says.
Since her breakthrough as an artist, Eva has formed a solid fanbase, partly by the versatility she possesses in her songs. One of them is Emma Gillepsie, 20, who is a listener and Eva’s close confidant.
“I discovered Eva through a gig she performed at our university. She was in my year doing the same course as me, but I didn’t know her personally at this stage,” said Emma.

“One thing I won’t forget from that night was when she performed ‘I loved you since I met you’, an original track of hers, and I felt such an emotional connection with her and her music even though she was somewhat of a stranger.”
In an industry that still doesn’t acknowledge women’s contribution to this heritage as much as they should, Gen-Z is trying by any means to empower and amplify their voices more often in the media. Bassist and musician Cosmo Fulham, 21, joined Eva’s band after learning of her potential as an artist. He took the bold decision to be part of something that he felt he needed in his life.
“Eva’s music is fun and exciting without losing touch of reality. It’s loud enough to grab your attention but isn’t scared of being reserved,” he said.
Whether you’re looking for a new artist to worship and brag to your friends that you discovered her before becoming famous, Eva’s music can be found on streaming platforms such as Spotify or Bandcamp.
